LONDON (AP) — American judo fighter Kayla Harrison has made it into the semifinals in the 78-kilogram division at the Olympics and will fight for a place in the finals Thursday afternoon.

The 22-year-old Harrison beat Hungarian Abigel Joo in the quarterfinals and will next meet world No. 1 Mayra Aguiar of Brazil in the semifinals.

Joo appeared to have injured her left ankle during the match, after which Harrison managed a match-ending ippon throw. Harrison says her “catty” side came out when she noticed Joo was injured. She says she just went for the win.

Harrison says she’s ready for the final and focused to win.

“This is my purpose,” she says.
