La Center — The property owned by David and Anita Maret on Northeast Christensen Road has qualified for wildlife habitat certification by the National Wildlife Federation. Over the course of six years, the Marets developed the nearly 5-acre parcel to use less water on less lawn; they've also cleared out old forest undergrowth to ensure new native plants can grow and that there's plenty of healthy habitat for wildlife. The changes have attracted an abundance of wildlife and birds. Still in store are forest paths, signs and more.
