WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Kei Nishikori of Japan started his match in sunshine on Court 14 and finished after dark under Wimbledon’s Centre Court roof.

Now he’s into the quarterfinals at the Olympics.

Nishikori’s match was moved under the lights so it could be finished Wednesday, and he beat No. 4-seeded David Ferrer of Spain 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.

Darkness forced officials to move the match with Ferrer about to serve at 4-5 in the final set. Play resumed before about 2,500 spectators in the 15,000-seat Centre Court, and the No. 15-seeded Nishikori needed only five points to close out the victory.
