Clark County wants citizen input on proposed park rules

Clark County is seeking citizen input on proposed changes to the park code.

The proposed changes include prohibiting tobacco use in designated sections of parks, such as playgrounds and shelters. While the city of Vancouver has banned smoking in city parks, the county has only had a voluntary no-smoking policy in certain sections. The change would prohibit tobacco use in areas currently under the voluntary policy.

Clark County commissioners will also consider revising the park and facility use permit and excluding repeat offenders from parks. The exclusion would be an alternative to a misdemeanor charge.

To read more about proposed changes, go to Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation or call 360-487-8311.

Comments must be received by Thursday, Aug. 16.

Comments may be sent to Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation, P.O. Box 1995, Vancouver, WA 98668-1995.
