WINDSOR, England (AP) — Germany won gold in the men’s quadruple sculls at the Olympic rowing regatta on Friday.

The crew of Karl Schulze, Phillipp Wende, Lauritz Schoof, Tim Grohmann led from start to finish to win in 5 minutes, 42.48 seconds. Croatia was a length behind in second place and Australia took the bronze.

Australia won the 2011 world championship but had been upstaged this year by Croatia, which won all three World Cup regattas in 2012 and qualified fastest for the Olympic final.

It’s Germany’s second gold of the regatta. The Germans also won the men’s eight.
