Letter: Challenge is to tolerate each other
Thursday, August 2, 2012
I wrote a story last September about another Colorado tragedy — Columbine — and the first person killed there — Rachel Joy Scott (http://www.whyrunning.com/rachels-tears-the-power-of-words.html).
It's been 13 years since Columbine; I know it well because my son was baptized the following Sunday. Since then, what have we learned? What have we forgotten? Not much and many are the answers.
Our greatest strength is our tolerance for each other. America was founded on the idea that we can live peaceably side by side despite not agreeing about everything, and we can even be friends despite not agreeing about anything. We seem to have lost that idea recently — the hatred is heartbreaking.
Read Rachel's story and "Look for the best in everyone no matter what."
