Abidal aiming to return after liver transplant

PARIS (AP) -- Barcelona defender Eric Abidal says his recovery from a liver transplant is going well and that he expects to return to the pitch this year.
The 32-year-old Abidal said Saturday that he has started working in the gym, feels "fine" and is progressing. He was hopeful he could play before December.
Abidal spoke after a friendly between Barcelona and PSG that the Catalan club won on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.
Abidal underwent the transplant in April. He previously had a liver tumor removed in March 2011.
He joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2007 and has helped the club win two Champions League titles and three Spanish league crowns.
