LONDON (AP) — Roman Vlasov of Russia won an Olympic gold medal Sunday in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Vlasov, who hails from the same Siberian town that produced wrestling great Aleksandr Karelin, beat Armenia’s Arsen Julfalakyan 1-0, 1-0 in the final of the men’s 74-kilogram category.

The 21-year-old Vlasov also won a world championship title in 2011 and has put himself in position to dominate this weight class for years to come.

Turkey’s Selcuk Cebi, the two-time world champion that Vlasov beat at the world championships last year, was knocked out after his first match.

Lithuania’s Aleksandr Kazakevic and Azerbaijan’s Emin Ahmadov won bronze medals.
