PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills receiver David Nelson and center Eric Wood are among the regulars who have been ruled out by coach Chan Gailey from playing in the team’s preseason opener against the Washington Redskins on Thursday.

Nelson was limited to participating in individual drills on Monday in his first practice since spraining his right knee on July 28, three days into training camp. Wood has been getting more practice time in team sessions, but Gailey doesn’t want to risk rushing back the player who is coming off season-ending knee surgery.

Gailey also ruled out veteran cornerback Terrence McGee from playing. McGee has practiced on a limited basis throughout training camp as he’s also coming off season-ending knee surgery.

Receiver Stevie Johnson (groin) returned to practice and is expected to play Thursday.
