The Columbia Springs environmental education center will host a volunteer event for all ages Saturday, Aug. 11. The 100-acre facility’s “Stewardship Saturday” will focus on painting and gardening projects, along with preparation for an upcoming fundraising event, according to organizers.

All volunteers are invited to help. Participants younger than 16 must have parental permission, and those younger than 14 must have parental supervision. Attendees should bring appropriate shoes, clothing and water. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, continuing until 1 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance, but walk-ins are welcome. People can sign up by sending an email to volunteer@columbiasprings.org or calling 360-882-0936, extension 230.

Columbia Springs is located at the old Vancouver Trout Hatchery, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway.
