NCAA, 4 pro leagues sue NJ over sports betting

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- The NCAA and the four major professional sports leagues have filed a lawsuit trying to stop New Jersey from allowing sports betting.
Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, the National Football league and the NCAA filed the lawsuit Tuesday morning in federal court in Trenton.
The leagues say that a 1992 federal law prohibits all but four states to allow betting on collegiate and professional games. New Jersey isn't one of them.
Gov. Chris Christie said in May he would implement regulations allowing sports betting without attempting to overturn the 1992 law. Christie said at the time he expected litigation.
