BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Once college football season starts, LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu says he will stay off social media, and coach Les Miles says he is in favor of that.

Mathieu, a Heisman Trophy finalist last season, has already engaged Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron in a brief spat on Twitter this summer. Mathieu says he knows he needs to watch his public comments and has no problem with the way Miles sometimes muzzles him.

LSU’s media day on Tuesday marked the first time Mathieu was permitted to talk to reporters since the Tigers reported for practice last week.

It was also the first chance for Penn State transfer Rob Bolden to talk about his role as a reserve quarterback. He says Penn State’s sanctions had little to do with his decision to play for LSU.
