LONDON (AP) — The royal family could be upstaged by sports royalty when Britain celebrates its Olympic medal haul outside Buckingham Palace.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to flood down The Mall in September at the end of an open-top bus parade through London.
Britain is having its best Summer Games since 1908, when London also hosted the Olympics. It has won 22 gold medals through Wednesday afternoon.
The British Olympic Association hopes children will be allowed out of school to join the celebrations on Sept. 10, the day after the Paralympics.
British Paralympians will also take part in the parade, which will start in the financial district.
