First Place — Evelina Khriptiyevskiy, the daughter of First Place Neighborhood Association residents Yelena and Antony Khriptiyevskiy, has won the second-annual First Place Volunteerism and Community Involvement Scholarship. Award mastermind Sharon Bevan said the $250 award is intended for an Evergreen High School senior who is deeply involved in the community. Evelina teaches Russian language at her church, has been to Mexico on a church mission and volunteers at food banks, retirement homes and Loaves & Fishes. She will attend Clark College this fall to study health and nutrition. “We are thrilled to give the award to such a deserving young person,” said Bevan. She hopes the award will be larger next year.
