In his July 24 column, “Media respond to tragedy, as usual, without regard for fact,” Thomas Sowell objects to some mindless media speculations.
He makes a good point: Perhaps some owners aren’t supervising their media empires very competently, hence the amateurism.
Another example of neglectfulness comes to mind: one of Rupert Murdoch’s big newspapers was shut down due to a phone-hacking scandal that allegedly persisted for years. A fair and balanced trial could land some of his people in prison. That’s just speculation, of course.
Shame on the media and its impish behaviors. We are not happy about this at all. Please try to perform your duty more ethically whenever possible.
