WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue’s football players and coaches are upfront about their plans for 2012.

They expect to make a big jump — and nothing, not even a rainy media day can douse their plans.

With three experienced starting quarterbacks on the roster and perhaps the most defensive depth the Boilermakers have had in the Danny Hope Era, Purdue’s coach made it clear what the expects this season. He believes this is the year Purdue’s program returns to national prominence.

Things certainly didn’t start out the way the Boilermakers anticipated.

As players were getting their photos taken a Ross-Ade Stadium, moderate, steady rain moved over the field and sent players, coaches and reporters scrambling for cover.
