FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — New England Revolution midfielder Zak Boggs is retiring and will accept a Fulbright Scholarship to study medical sciences at England’s Leicester University beginning this fall.

The team announced Boggs’ decision Friday.

The 25-year-old was drafted in the second round (31st overall) of the 2010 draft. He made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and adding one assist.

He had not played in 2012, severely spraining his ankle in February and going on the disabled list in April.
