Letter: Libertarian makes state ballot

In reply to Jim Dougherty’s Aug. 2 letter, “Vote for smaller government,” I’d like it reported in the news that Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico and the 2012 Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. president, will be on the Washington state ballot in November. This is confirmed per a call to the Libertarian Party state Chair Larry Nicholas on Aug. 1 from the Secretary of State’s office in Olympia.

Clark County residents helped with the necessary signature gathering, in early July, to secure Johnson’s place on the ballot.

Johnson meets all of Dougherty’s stated needs: “more efficient government, a balanced budget, and sound policy based on the Constitution.”

More information on the Johnson campaign, his running mate Jim Gray, a former judge, and the Libertarian Party can be found at http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/.
