LONDON (AP) — The U.S. men’s basketball team has a gold-medal rematch with Spain and some other “unfinished business” on the final day of the Olympics.
The Americans beat the Spaniards four years ago in Beijing, winning 118-107 in an Olympic classic.
The U.S. players have said they are better than that team, and the stats back them up. A place in history is awaiting this group of Americans — if they win.
LeBron James says since the 2008 team won gold, this squad has “some unfinished business still left.”
The Americans are averaging 116.7 points — just slightly off the Dream Team’s record of 117.3 per game. With James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony, they are well-equipped to win if Sunday’s game turns into a shootout like the game in 2008.
