Southwest Washington Agency on Aging and Disabilities is seeking volunteers to help identify abuse and protect the rights of the elderly and people with disabilities living in long-term care facilities, according to a SWAAD online newsletter.
The agency will offer a training for volunteers, known as ombudsmen, Oct. 9-11 at its Vancouver office, 201 N.E. 73rd St., Suite 201. Vacancies for ombudsmen are available in Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Skamania and Wahkiakum counties. Ombudsmen pay regular visits to long-term care facilities. More than 6,000 people live in long-term care facilities in Southwest Washington.
