Evergreen — Kristi Nygaard and Mary Stell, both eighth grade teachers at Cascade Middle School, were recognized by Youth Service America in Washington, D.C., for the community service projects they’ve worked on with their students. Stell’s math students have been tutoring fifth graders who need extra help in math, while Nygaard’s science classes have been working with a local university scientist on a yearlong study of Burnt Bridge Creek.
