Price is back, but Huskies fate depends on defense

SEATTLE (AP) — Keith Price is back at quarterback for Washington and that alone makes the Huskies viable contenders in the loaded Pac-12.

Price is coming off one of the finest seasons ever for a Washington quarterback, throwing for a school-record 33 touchdowns, and he capped his season with a dynamic seven TD performance in the Alamo Bowl.

But much of the Huskies’ success in 2012 will depend on new defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox’s ability to bring Washington’s defense back to respectability. The Huskies became a national punch line after giving up 67 points to Baylor in the Alamo Bowl.

There’s also the Huskies’ loaded early schedule to contend with, which features trips to LSU and Oregon and home games versus Stanford and USC.
