Work to close I-5 northbound in Portland

Northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Portland will close Friday night for repairs and will reopen Monday morning.

Lanes between the Marquam and Fremont bridges will be closed 11 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, according to an Oregon Department of Transportation release.

Drivers should avoid I-5 northbound or plan for significant delays on Interstate 405 and the Sunset Highway leading to north I-405, ODOT says.

Drivers should use Interstate 205 northbound as an alternative.

The ramp from I-5 north to Interstate 84 will be open except from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday and 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, ODOT said. The ramp from west I-24 to I-5 north will close from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday and from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

A similar closure of northbound lanes is planned for the weekend of Sept. 7.
