Letter: Myths persist about taxes

The Columbian
Published: August 18, 2012, 5:00pm

Dear voters: Data from the past 50 years show that cutting taxes for the richest Americans has not improved the economic standing of the lower and middle classes or the nation as a whole. There is no demonstrated proof that lower taxes for the rich can reduce unemployment rates. The only thing it does do is raise the national debt.

How can anyone believe it when a rich person says “give me even more money and it will improve your lot in life”?
