SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Heavily favored Risky Rachel took the lead with a furlong to run and drew away to a 312-length win in the $100,000 Union Avenue Stakes for fillies and mares bred in New York at Saratoga Race Course.
Javier Castellano was aboard the Juan Coronel-trained 5-year-old, who ran six furlongs in 1:09.02 and earned $60,000 for owner Sanford Bacon. The win Monday was her third in six starts this season.
Risky Rachel paid $3.40, $2.20 and $2.10. Willet, the runner-up, paid $2.90 and 2.50. Paper Plane, third of six, returned $3.50 to show.
