Man improving after jogger-car accident

Sandor Swartz, a jogger who was injured in a collision with a car on Monday, was listed in serious condition Tuesday night at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. On Monday night, he was listed in critical condition.

The Washington State Patrol said Swartz was jogging when he collided with a car at the northbound Interstate 5 offramp at 134th Street. The accident happened at 10:35 a.m.

Nancy Almo, 69, of Vancouver was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring when she stopped at the 1-5 offramp and then turned right onto 134th Street. Swartz, 32, of Vancouver jogged into the crosswalk, collided with the vehicle and fell to the ground, officials said.

He suffered an open head wound, a broken rib and a lung injury, the patrol said.

The accident is under investigation.
