An 80-year-old convicted felon was arrested Thursday morning in Dollars Corner on suspicion of possessing heroin and seven counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Undercover detectives met Charles R. Norgaard around 10 a.m. in Dollars Corner, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office bulletin. At the time, Norgaard was allegedly carrying a .45 caliber handgun.

He was taken into custody, and detectives then searched his Battle Ground-area home at 28400 N.E. 91st Ave., just north of Daybreak Park, where they found six other firearms and a small amount of heroin, according to the bulletin.

Norgaard was booked at the Clark County Jail and should make his first appearance before a judge this morning. He is also awaiting sentencing on separate drug charges out of Cowlitz County.

Norgaard has a history of firearm violations.

In 1999, federal agents said they raided his home, where they seized marijuana, 23 guns and more than 7,500 rounds of ammunition.

About 17 years before that, Norgaard was convicted of first-degree kidnapping and possessing marijuana, according to Clark County Superior Court records. A sentencing board fixed his prison term at 6 1/2 years.
