Letter: Pit bull owners, take control

Time and time again, pit bulls are in the news, after attacking people, dogs and cats.

Around July of last year, my wife and I found a pit bull wandering on Whitman Avenue, chasing cats and other dogs in an aggressive manner. The dog followed my wife around the neighborhood. She asked around to find out whom it belonged to. A little girl and her mother were out walking a little dog; the pit bull attacked the little dog and my wife grabbed the pit bull by the neck, hurting herself in the process. I got a rope on it and we called 911. We were told that it was up to the Vancouver Police if they would show up. We called two times with no show.

We found the owner and found out later the female pit's mate was a vicious biter. Thankfully, he wasn't out.

Please be responsible for your pets.
