JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State quarterback Ryan Aplin is intent on improving this year, even after being named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year last season.

Aplin threw for 3,588 yards and accounted for 29 touchdowns (19 passing, 10 rushing), leading the Red Wolves to a 10-3 record and appearance in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

The senior has had four different position coaches and been a part of three offensive systems during his time at Arkansas State. His latest is the no-huddle spread offense featured by new coach Gus Malzahn.

Aplin, who also rushed for 588 yards last season, says Malzahn’s system is a perfect fit for him and the rest of the Red Wolves’ offense.

Arkansas State opens its season at Oregon on Sept. 1.
