Cardinals’ O-line returns experience and depth

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville has an offensive line that works together and trusts each other on and off the field.

None of the linemen saw this coming a year ago, when underclassman were pressed into service and the Cardinals shifted personnel trying to find rhythm and chemistry. And while some polishing remains, No. 25 Louisville begins the season with four of five starters back, including the entire left side.

Ragged as it looked throughout the season, the long-term gain is a unit that should help the Cardinals and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who threw for 2,129 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, but also had 12 interceptions and was often under fire.

Cardinals offensive line coach Dave Borbely says “we didn’t do a good job of protecting Teddy.”

Louisville plays Kentucky on Sept. 2.
