EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara was carted off the field in the first quarter of a preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Friday night after hurting his right leg making a tackle against receiver Brandon Marshall.

The Giants said Amukamara, who had trouble putting weight on his leg, had an X-ray of his lower leg that was negative.

The Giants’ first-round draft last year, Amukamara missed the opening part of last season after breaking his foot in training camp. He took over a starting spot this season after Terrell Thomas aggravated a knee injury that sidelined him last season.

Amukamara was in the news this week after a teammate tweeted a videotape of him being thrown into an ice tub at training camp by defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
