Letter: City’s appearance deteriorates

The Aug. 12 letter entitled “City looking worse than ever” by Tom O’Neal is an observation, I believe, of most residents who live here. To live in a city that is so run-down and deteriorated is very sad to me.

I can remember when I was proud to drive toward my home and admired the beautiful green foliage and well-kept city. Now you see 4-foot weeds and dried-up surroundings.

It brings to mind something that was said to me when I was involved in civic activities: “Why doesn’t somebody do something?” Who is this somebody, and who is going to do something?

Is this the new norm and are we expected to accept this deterioration?

If there is a solution, I would like to hear it. It seems the city has turned a deaf ear.
