BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Rain has washed out qualifying at Bristol Motor Speedway, which means Casey Mears will start from the pole Saturday night in the Sprint Cup Series race.

The lineup was set by speeds from Friday’s first practice session. Brad Keselowski will start second, followed by series points leader Greg Biffle, Joey Logano and Aric Almirola.

Saturday night’s race is pivotal for a handful of drivers trying to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field. But Friday, Busch called the changes to Bristol’s surface “terrible.” Track owner Bruton Smith ground down the top groove this summer.
