Vancouver-based Northwest Pipe Co. said Friday it has dismissed Deloitte & Touche LLP as the company’s independent registered accounting firm.

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP is Northwest Pipe’s new independent registered accounting firm, effective Aug. 20, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The decision to change accountants “was considered and approved by the audit committee of the company’s board of directors,” the company said.

Northwest Pipe manufactures steel pipe, primarily for drinking water systems. The change in accountants comes after the company announced earlier this month that it agreed to pay $13.25 million to settle four lawsuits filed by shareholders, including a class-action complaint that accused the company and senior managers of accounting fraud.
