BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor has been placed on the physically-unable-to perform list and will miss at least Cleveland’s first six games.

Taylor tore a biceps muscle lifting weights during the offseason. A first-round pick in 2011, the massive Taylor started all 16 games last season.

The Browns also placed starting linebacker Chris Gocong on injured reserve. He will miss the entire season after tearing his Achilles during training camp. Rookie Emmanuel Acho was also placed on IR with an unspecified injury.

The team also waived defensive end Marcus Benard, who dislocated his elbow in Friday’s loss to Philadelphia. Defensive lineman Auston English and defensive back Antwuan Reed were also let go.

The Browns were awarded rookie defensive lineman Ernest Owusu off waivers from Minnesota. He played at Cal.
