ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Quarterback Tyler Thigpen will get a majority of the playing time in the Buffalo Bills’ preseason finale.

It is Thigpen’s final shot to win the backup job, and the newly acquired Tarvaris Jackson will take over in the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s game at Detroit on Thursday.

Jackson will be judged on his potential as well, coach Chan Gailey said Tuesday. Buffalo acquired Jackson in a trade with Seattle Monday.

The No. 2 quarterback job is among several unsettled positions before the Bills set the 53-player roster Friday. Gailey said about 80 percent of his roster is already set, leaving about seven players on the bubble.

General manager Buddy Nix said adding a veteran safety might no longer be a key need based on how rookie Delano Howell’s performed.
