Arnada — The street-surface mural at the intersection of 22nd and D streets got its annual touch-up Aug. 3 and 4. “The mural has been one of the coolest things we’ve done in Arnada,” said neighborhood chairwoman Suze Marshall. “It has been a very effective traffic calming device, has turned the intersection into a gathering area with the kiosk and bench that we’ve placed there, too.” Power washing took place Aug. 3 in the afternoon and painting was Aug. 4 — which turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. “Yikes, it was almost 100 degrees, which felt like about 120 degrees” when you’re hunkered down on hot pavement, Marshall said.
