The high school football season in Southwest Washington gets started Thursday with two Clark County teams in action in Oregon.
Skyview, which reached the Class 4A state championship game last season, will open against Central Catholic of Portland in a game played at 7 p.m. at Hillsboro Stadium.
It’s the third consecutive year the Storm have faced a playoff team from Oregon to open the season. The Storm lost to Sherwood, Ore., in the past two season openers.
Skyview has not won a season-opening game since 2006.
Central Catholic reached the Oregon Class 6A state semifinals last season. The Rams are No. 5 in the OregonLive.com preseason rankings of 6A teams.

King’s Way Christian, which will play an independent eight-man football schedule this season, will open its schedule with a 4 p.m. game Thursday at Dufur, Ore.

The Tacoma News Tribune has polled coaches around the state for their rankings in high school football.
Southwest Washington is represented by Union’s Cale Piland (4A), Mountain View’s Adam Mathieson (3A), Mark Morris’ Shawn Perkins (2A) and Woodland’s Mark Greenleaf (1A) on the voting panel.
Skyview is ranked No. 2 in the 4A, with Union No. 8 and Camas No. 9.
