The Evergreen Bulldogs Pop Warner football team lost their opening game at the Pop Warner Super Bowl tournament in Orlando, Fla.

The Bulldogs were defeated by the Loveland (Colo.) Titans 35-20 on Saturday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Details from the game were not reported.

“We just fell short today,” Evergreen coach Brandon Victor said in a taped interview posted on the Pop Warner Super Bowl website. “The kids played great, and we look forward to the next challenge on Tuesday.”

Next for Evergreen is a consolation game against the Southlake Red Devils of Indiana at 7:30 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs play in the Pee Wee Division for players ages 9-11, plus 12-year-olds who weigh less than 100 pounds. They are one of eight team in their division to qualify for Pop Warner’s national tournament. They won their spot by beating the South Marin Broncos 14-0 in a Nov. 17 playoff game in Santa Clara, Calif.
