Well, we have The Columbian's favorite on the front page of the Nov. 26 issue, "Herrera Beutler: Sights are set on second term," giving us non-answers to important questions.
U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, says she is "not drawing any lines in the sand" over raising taxes on the rich. Excuse me! Wasn't she the one who signed the pledge to Grover Norquist, a registered lobbyist, to not raise taxes? What have I missed here? Did The Columbian also miss this small disconnect between real actions and rhetoric?
As to the other canned responses of "we're looking at it," and "we're looking forward," somebody should tell her the election is over and we (the people) are done with campaign rhetoric.
