Arizona’s Whisenhunt noncommittal on QB situation

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt won’t commit to naming a starting quarterback for next Sunday’s game at Seattle.

The embattled coach, whose team has lost eight in a row, says he needs to review the video of Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the New York Jets before making a decision.

Rookie Ryan Lindley made his second NFL start, completing 10 of 31 passes for just 72 yards, 23 of them on the second play of the game. Arizona had just five first downs and was 0 for 15 on third-down conversions.

Despite Lindley’s struggles, Whisenhunt resisted substituting John Skelton, saying he thought sticking with Lindley gave the team the best chance to win.

Whisenhunt says he doesn’t know if quarterback Kevin Kolb would be available this week. Kolb has missed six games with a rib injury.
