Boys basketball: Washougal 54, Hudson’s Bay 46

Four players scored 12 points apiece and the host Panthers made enough free throws to deny the Eagles comeback attempt.

Mike McElroy, Austin tran, Jaden Jantzer and Aaron Deister each tallied 12 points for Washougal (3-1).

The Panthers led 31-21 at halftime, but the Eagles turned up their defensive effort and pulled within four points by the end of the third quarter.

Washougal was able to rebuild its cushion to 11 points in the fourth quarter and sealed the win by making 12 of 16 free throws in the final period.
