INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — AJ Foyt Racing will test Conor Daly at Sebring International Raceway next week in Daly’s first time testing an Indy car.
The test scheduled for next Thursday is two days before Daly’s 21st birthday. Team director Larry Foyt said Tuesday he’s not sure what opportunities it could lead to for Daly with the organization.
Daly is the son of Derek Daly, a former Formula One and CART driver.
Daly has spent the last two seasons competing in Formula One support series GP3. He won national titles in the Mazda and Barber series, and has been racing of late in single-seaters in Europe. He tweeted on Monday that he wanted to take the Indianapolis 500 seat Roger Penske offered to Tony Stewart should Stewart not accept the ride.
