House Republicans (including our own Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas) claim to be concerned about spending, yet won't cut subsidies to profitable corporations; won't stop needless lobbyist-requested defense spending (some spending that the Department of Defense has not even requested); won't stop the quest to privatize everything, which costs us more in the long run; and won't support financial reform to prevent another disaster. But then, they don't really work for average Americans. They work for wealthy bankers, CEOs and billionaires. That's why they want to cut programs that financially affect the poor and middle class … those who can't afford much, if any, lobbying. I can't figure out why some vote for these people.
