Horton, Austin Peay beat Oakland City 88-63

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Chris Horton set career highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds as Austin Peay beat National Christian College Athletic Association school Oakland City 88-63 Wednesday night.

The freshman was 10 of 12 from the field as he earned his first career double-double. Travis Betran added 18 points, Anthony Campbell 13 and Chris Freeman 10 for the Governors (4-4)

Cameron LeFear led the Might Oaks (4-2) with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while Mitch Stahl had 19 points.

Horton’s dunk with 16:13 left in the second half snapped a 6-all tie and launched a 10-2 Austin Peay run.

Oakland City pulled within 35-32 on Stahl’s 3-pointer with 4:53 left, but the Governors rebounded with 11 straight points and led 46-34 at halftime.

Trevor Smith hit a 3 for the Mighty Oaks to pull within 10, 49-39, with 18:21 to go, but Oakland City never got any closer.
