Letter: Another panel means another delay

Gov. Chris Gregoire's recent executive order, which directs the Department of Ecology to work on "ocean acidification," is just another example of commissioning further study as an excuse for taking real action. The scientific community has known for 30 years that burning fossil fuels will kill not just shellfish larvae but the whole planet. Instead of another unfunded study panel, the DOE and the executive branch of the state of Washington should do everything possible to cut the strangle-hold fossil fuel interests have on our economy and our planet's survival. This also means stopping coal trains shipping coal to Asia.
