DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Kyle Vinales scored 27 points as Central Connecticut’s starters scored all but two of its points in an 87-84 nonconference victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday night.

Matt Hunter added 18 points, Joe Efese 15, Adonis Burbage 13 and Malcolm McMillan 12 for the Blue Devils (4-3), whose starters played an average of 36.6 minutes. They were averaging 36.1 for the season.

Vinales’ 3-pointer put CCSU ahead to stay, 73-71, with 6:06 remaining. The sophomore guard, who came in averaging 25.7 points per game, had 17 in the second half.

The lead reached six before the Wildcats (3-5) cut it to 82-80 with 36 seconds left on Chandler Rhoads’ layup, but CCSU secured the game with five free throws.

Rhoads scored 18 points for New Hampshire, which also had all five starters in double figures. Chris Pelcher had 16, Ferg Myrick 15 and Jordon Bronner and Patrick Konan 11 each.
