A woman suffered inhalation and burn injures Friday in a fire at a duplex in Vancouver Heights, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 8:42 p.m. at 220 Omaha Way, said firefighter-paramedic Kevin Stromberg. Units on scene at 8:48 p.m. saw smoke and a fire inside the duplex and initiated a rapid attack, extinguishing the fire in less than 10 minutes. An adjoining unit was undamaged.

A woman and her three children escaped the fire, but the woman suffered “significant inhalation injuries” and burns to her left arm and the left side of face, Stromberg said. She was transported to a local hospital. The Red Cross was called in to assist the family. The fire remains under investigation.
