Letter: Another bridge solution offered

The Columbian
Published: December 6, 2012, 4:00pm

I read the Nov. 29 Columbian story “Drivers say they’ll avoid tolls,” stating that a significant number of commuters would make the extra drive to the I-205 bridge to avoid paying tolls on the new Columbia River Crossing bridge.

Perhaps we could solve the problem by making the I-5 bridge a carpool or toll-only bridge, thus shifting much of the traffic burden to the Glenn Jackson Bridge and simultaneously making carpools very attractive.

In addition, collected tolls could be used for a new bridge or other improvements, and the MAX light rail line could be extended to Fisher’s Landing Transit Center for my use. Voila! Problem solved.
