Letter: Take debate online

The Columbian
Published: December 7, 2012, 4:00pm

Jim Postma in his Dec. 3 letter, “‘Makers are ‘Takers,’ too,” asks people he calls “Makers” some questions about income disparity.

Why is he asking people questions through the newspaper? If you sincerely want answers, why not try the Internet?

Websites such as Wikipedia, YouTube, Quora, Wolframalpha and Khan Academy are just a few of the places capable of satisfying your curiosity.

And if you really want to go down the rabbit hole, online communities exist for pretty much every subject imaginable and many of their members are willing to politely converse and debate with open-minded people through their community’s message boards.

Or, if you just want to taunt and provoke those you disagree with, the Internet is a great place for that, too.
